Growing Through Openness

Abstract art with purple and pink flowing shapes resembling a figure, set in a white frame. Modern and calming design.

Openness might be one of the most underrated forms of strength. We all hit moments when life shifts in a direction we didn’t expect… and those moments reveal a lot about how willing we are to soften, release the need for control, and let something new in.

This month reminded me of that in a very real way. Work changes came up that I didn’t see coming, but had actually hoped for… and instead of digging my heels in, I found myself doing something different. I softened. I stepped back. I observed. I paid attention to the cues around me and allowed myself to be open to new ways of doing things. As I move through these changes, I can feel myself growing in ways that only come from choosing openness over control.

I’m learning that growth doesn’t always come from action. Sometimes it comes from pausing long enough to notice where your ego wants control and choosing openness instead. Life will shift whether we’re ready or not… but we always get to choose our response. And there’s something really empowering about noticing that in real time.
