Exploring Italy

ree

This May, my husband Scott and I took a trip we’ll never forget.

We wanted to end our youngest son Jake’s semester abroad in a special way… so we met up as a family with all three kids in Amalfi, but first, Scott and I took a few days to ourselves. We stayed in two Leading Hotels of the World and they lived up to the name.

We started with two nights at Capri Tiberio Palace, a true gem tucked away on one of the most beautiful (and hard-to-reach!) islands I’ve ever visited. Then we made our way to the Hotel Santa Caterina in Amalfi for one more night before the boys arrived. Both stays were absolutely magical… stunning views, top-notch service, and a pinch-me-I’m-here kind of experience.

Once our boys joined us, we wanted more shared space to relax as a family, so we tried something new… Airbnb! This was our first time using it together, and we’ve been so impressed. The hosts have been incredibly responsive, the homes spotless and well-stocked, and we’ve had exactly the kind of communal space we were hoping for.

In Amalfi, our first villa had two levels and lots of outdoor terraces with views overlooking the town. In Positano, our second Airbnb has been more compact but just as beautiful, especially the outdoor space, which includes a lemon tree-filled garden, a big cozy couch, and a dining area perfect for slow mornings and playing cards after dinner.

Next stop… Rome!
