La Concha Key West Review: Is the Air-Quality Room Upgrade Worth It?

When we booked our stay at La Concha in Key West, a Marriott Autograph Collection property, I noticed an upgrade I hadn’t seen before: a room with better air quality.

Of course, with my interest in health and wellness, I was curious. It wasn’t a huge amount extra, so I decided to try it.

The first thing I noticed was the noise. There seemed to be something in the air system that made it louder than I expected. A friend who had booked the same upgrade mentioned it, too. I slept with earplugs, so it didn’t really bother me, but it’s something to consider if you prefer a very quiet room.

As for the air itself, our room felt comfortable. Some friends described their rooms as humid or stuffy, and that wasn’t my experience.

Now, I didn’t compare rooms or measure the air quality, so I can’t say how much of a difference the upgrade actually made. But I liked how our room felt, and I appreciated having the option.

I would consider it again, especially somewhere humid like Key West. I’d just bring my earplugs!

It made me think about the things we look for when choosing a hotel. We pay attention to the location, the bed, the pool, and the view. The air in the room hadn’t really been on my list before. Now it is.
