Embracing the Empty Nest, Creating What’s Next

Our youngest son Jake came to Florida recently, and it felt different. With our Maryland house sold, this rental is now his “home base” when he visits us, but it doesn’t quite feel like home. And it was his first visit without our pup Lizzie. That absence was louder than I expected. Empty nesting has layers, and this one reminded me again how much life is shifting.

At the same time, I’ve been connecting with more and more people in this season of life. Some are just entering it, figuring out how to manage all the different feels. Others are searching for new purpose and ways to fill their days. What I am realizing is that every empty nester’s story is different, but we’re all learning how to redefine home, identity, and rhythm.

Here’s where I land... it’s time to embrace this new sense of freedom. To be grateful that we are young and healthy enough and have the means to truly enjoy this stage of life. I know one day there will be weddings, grandkids, and reasons to stay rooted closer to home. That season will come. But this season our kids are telling us to go on an adventure, so we are. We already have airline tickets to Europe with no set plan for the weeks we’ll be there. And maybe that’s exactly the point... changing the setting and creating space for creativity, renewal, and possibility.

That same spirit of embracing change and creating new beginnings is also what led me to build something I’ve been dreaming about for a long time. I’m so excited to share that my website is live: iamlife-solutions.com.
