Deer Valley Spring Skiing: Slopes in the Morning, Pool by the Afternoon

We skied and laid by a pool… on the same day.

First time ever.

We were at Deer Valley Resort in late March, right before the season wraps. Deer Valley spring skiing is a unique experience... mild temps, soft snow, and a resort vibe that makes après-ski feel more like a vacation than a ski trip.

The conditions were not the best… a lot of slush… but the weather was so mild it was actually hot.

Like… one of our kids skied without anything on his top half.

Fully leaning into spring break.

Man skiing shirtless on a snowy slope, wearing ski pants and goggles. Forest and mountains in the background under a clear blue sky.

After skiing, we changed into bathing suits and laid by the pool… looking out at the mountains in the distance that we had just skied… and the Jordanelle Reservoir.

73 degrees, sun out… snow on the mountains.

It was kind of surreal.

We also skied Alta Ski Area and Snowbird earlier in the trip where the snow was very good… plenty to ski and explore… so this was a completely different kind of ski day.

And one quick mention… we stayed one night at the Grand Hyatt Deer Valley and it’s a beautiful, brand new property. Service was excellent.

There’s still a lot of construction around it right now, but because of that, we were actually able to get a great deal using Hyatt points.

Definitely worth checking out.

One of those days I won’t forget
