The Eagle Creek Packing Cubes I’ve Been Using for Years

I’ve had my Eagle Creek packing cubes for so long that they don’t even make my exact ones anymore. Mine are the old Pack-It Specter cubes, white with fluorescent yellow-green trim, and they have been on more trips than I could possibly count. But on this last trip, they were an absolute lifesaver.

We were moving from place to place, usually staying somewhere for only a night or two. There was really no point in unpacking, so my suitcase basically became my dresser.

I sorted everything by category, with a separate cube for:

• Socks

• Underwear

• Bras

• Swimsuits

• Exercise tops

• Exercise bottoms

• T-shirts

• Shorts and jean skirts

• Electronic plugs, chargers, battery packs, AirPods and all those little electronic things that are so easy to lose

When I needed something, I just pulled out that cube, grabbed what I needed and put it back. I wasn’t digging through piles of clothes or completely repacking my suitcase every time we moved.

The reason I’ve kept these particular cubes for so many years is that they’re incredibly lightweight. They add almost no weight or bulk to my suitcase, they’re easy to manage, and I love the size for organizing this way. And clearly they hold up. Mine have been traveling with me for years and are still going strong.

Eagle Creek no longer makes my original Pack-It Specter cubes, but the closest current version is their Pack-It Isolate collection, which is also designed to be extremely lightweight.

If you’re someone who likes to actually unpack every single thing when you get somewhere, you may use packing cubes differently. But if you’re moving around, living out of a suitcase, or just want to be able to find your underwear without turning your entire suitcase upside down, I don’t travel without them.
