The Cold Collective

Scott and I recently explored a local wellness event in downtown Delray Beach called The Cold Collective. We found out about it through my gym Slash Fitness, and since they were one of the featured workouts, we figured we’d check it out. It turned out to be a great mix of fitness, recovery, food, and local businesses… the kind of thing that reminds you how much is happening right in your own backyard when you say yes to trying something new.
There were group workouts going on throughout the day, from functional training with TRX to bootcamp with Purlife and HIIT with Slash. After getting super sweaty in one of the classes, I dipped into the cold plunge from Lift Wellness Studio. I lasted all of two seconds. Scott dunked his head in. It was just as intense as I thought it would be, but it definitely cooled us off fast.

We wandered from booth to booth trying things like protein shakes, cold brew, healthy energy drinks, and prepped meals. I got a quick Thai-style massage from the team at Tammy Fender Holistic Spa, which is located at the Opal Hotel in Delray. I also signed up for a special at The Tox, a new client package that included a lymphatic facial and a lymphatic drainage massage. I’ve already gone to the appointment and will share more.

Scott did cupping with Basis Medical and walked away with the marks to prove it. But it really did help with his shoulder pain. Scott took a few strokes of mini golf at the PopStroke tent, which was fun and something we look forward to taking our kids too when they visit.

One of the more surprising moments was when we spoke with the event coordinator and learned there’s apparently a color-code system at events like this to signal things like relationship status. It’s a whole layer I had no idea existed.
Besides being fun, the event also sparked ideas for future collaborations. I connected with a few vendors and wellness professionals who could be great partners for my coach events and healthy happy hours.
It was a reminder that you don’t always have to travel far to go on an adventure. Sometimes you just need to say yes to what’s happening nearby and see where it takes you.
