This may not be the most glamorous favorite thing I’ve ever shared, but it really is one of the things I’m loving right now.
Kefir and kimchi.
I wrote more about this in my I Am Eating Well section because adding probiotic foods has made such a difference in my gut health. Less bloated, even more regular, and just overall happier digestion. So for my favorite things in this issue, I wanted to share the actual ones I’ve been using because taste matters. If something tastes terrible, I’m not going to keep doing it.
I buy both of these at Whole Foods, although they are sold other places too.
The kefir I like best is:
One of the reasons I like this particular kefir is that it does not have that fake-sugar aftertaste that some of them have.
The kimchi I like best is:
A little note on the kimchi: the one I use is spicy, which I like, but there are definitely non-spicy versions if spicy is not your thing.
This is not about eating a huge amount. For me, it’s more like a small swig of kefir or a forkful of kimchi added into the day. Just enough to make it doable. And because my son Jake does the same kind of thing with a forkful of sauerkraut, I think of this as one of those small, simple habits that can actually stick. It's not fancy or complicated, it just very much works for me.
Read more in this issue’s I Am Eating Well section about why I started adding probiotic foods more consistently and how it has helped my gut.
