A recent food adventure in Miami turned into one of the best days of eating I’ve had in a while. If you’re looking for fresh flavors, creative dishes, and a few unexpected delights, these three spots should be on your radar.
This vibrant Peruvian restaurant has locations throughout Florida, including Boca Raton, Aventura, Coral Gables, and more. We went to the downtown Miami location and kicked off the meal with the Ceviche Norteñazo, the fresh catch of the day (ours was mahi-mahi) in a spicy leche de tigre with limo pepper, zarandaja beans, yuyo seaweed from Peru, sweet potato purée, and steamed corn croutons. The combination of flavors and textures was unforgettable.
We also shared the Ají de Gallina, shredded chicken breast in a creamy yellow pepper sauce with milk, piso bread, pecans, and parmesan. Comforting, flavorful, and so well balanced.

This neighborhood bakery has been part of the Wynwood scene for over 14 years. We stopped in for coffee and a slice of warm, gooey babka that totally hit the spot. While we didn’t try anything from the lunch menu, the dishes coming out of the kitchen looked incredible.
We also found out Zak the Baker supplies sourdough and pastries to Whole Foods across Florida, including the one in Delray Beach. We walked right in, but others were told it might be a 10 to 15 minute wait, so plan accordingly.

We wrapped up the day with dinner at KYU, also in Wynwood. The energy was great, and the food even better. We started with the avocado salad and a tuna crispy dish, both bright and flavorful.
But the real star was the Thai Rice Stone Pot with Confit Duck. They serve it tableside, mixing in an egg right in front of you. It’s fun, comforting, and layered with flavor in all the right ways. We also had the short ribs, tender, spicy, and packed with flavor.
We spotted a few other dishes we’re coming back for, like the roasted cauliflower and the crunchy kale. And while we didn’t try it ourselves, we did hear that their fried chicken is one of their signature dishes.
One sweet touch I wasn’t expecting, but loved that some people had dogs with them at their tables, including the woman next to me who had her little dog on her lap. We were sharing a bench, so he ended up right next to me, and I got a few cuddles in. It made the night even better.
