Ignited: Finding My Way Back to Purpose

Updated: Aug 20

ree

It’s been a little longer between newsletters than I would’ve liked… and I think that’s the ripple effect of all the life changes I’ve been navigating lately. Selling our home of 23 years. Losing our sweet Lizzie after 16.5 years. That’s a lot.

I’m not someone who likes to get stuck in an identity that holds me back. I see it often with clients… statements like “Oh, that’s just because I have XYZ” and suddenly that becomes the reason they’re not moving forward with their health or goals. I try hard not to fall into that trap myself.

But the truth is… I have felt off.

We sold our house May 1st. Lizzie passed away June 10th. And now, somehow it’s already the end of July. We’re still unsettled… living in transition, with stuff in storage and no clear long-term plan yet. Every day I sit down and try to “figure it out,” but sometimes all that thinking turns into paralysis. And I just… stall.

Some beach hopping with the kids in Dewey, DE, a little house hunting with Scott along the Jersey Shore, and a stop in Bethany, DE with friends helped shake things up a bit. And then I flew to Dallas for a work trip. I hadn’t been around my health coaching community in a while, and honestly, I’ve been feeling down about that too. Business hasn’t felt quite as fun or fulfilling lately and for me, it has to feel purposeful and passion-filled to truly work.

But being there in person changed something.

There’s something powerful about surrounding yourself with people who get it. People who are in it with you. People who remind you why you started. Some might hear “network marketing” and roll their eyes or say things like “is it a cult?” or “did they brainwash you at the event?” But here’s the thing: every business has a structure. A hierarchy. People training people. Leaders mentoring new team members. When you strip away the labels, it’s really about shared goals and support systems.

And that does feel good.

I got to witness teams experiencing amazing success. I got to reconnect with my own teammates who still love what we do… who feel that coaching has changed their lives. Who are staying healthy because they’re helping others get healthy. That re-lit something in me.

The event was called Ignite. Fitting, right?

So whether it was the community, the stories, the energy, or maybe even just stepping away from my own head for a bit… something shifted. And I’m back. Recommitted more than ever to helping others feel better in their bodies, and to helping coaches build businesses that give them life.

That’s where I’m at today. Unfiltered.
